Photo Competition and Exhibition 2021

Cancelled due to Covid

While the Sculpture Prize will proceed in early 2022, the photography competition has had to be cancelled due to conflicting events


Entries are invited to the Neerim Bower Photography Competition. In conjunction with the 2021 Sculpture Prize, the Neerim community is offering photographers the opportunity to display their work with over $1,500 in cash prizes available. 

Sections and topics are offered for the more experienced amateur photographer with three Print sections open to all Australian residents. 

There will also be a Community Digital section open to residents of the Baw Baw Shire with a special extra prize for the best image from an entrant under 18 years old.

‘Scapes (print)

Landscape, seascape, cityscape, must have been taken in Australia

1st: $300 
2nd: $100

Open to all Australian residents

Birds in Colour (print)

Australian Native Birds in the wild, in the backyard, or in zoos

1st: $300 
2nd: $100 

Open to all Australian residents

People/Portrait (print)

Anything from a head and shoulders portrait to a cowboy falling off a bucking horse, must have been taken in Australia

1st: $300 
2nd: $100 

Open to all Australian residents

Community Digital

Open topic but must have been taken in Australia

1st: $200 
2nd: $75 

Best under 18: $100 

Must be a resident of the Baw Baw Shire. 
For the under 18 award, entrant must be present in person to receive the prize.

All prints must be in a 400x500mm mat (standard for amateur photography competitions in Australia). 

Entry fee $5 per print section (up to 4 entries per section).  

Community digital entries free to Shire residents with up to 4 images per entrant.  Entries close 31st October (tentative).

The Exhibition will be held in Algie Hall, Main Neerim Road, Neerim South on a weekend in mid-November 2022. A minimum of 120 prints will be on display. All Digital entries will be shown on a continuous slideshow. Entry to the Exhibition will be free.
